HKAIIFF Amazonia Program
亞馬遜計劃
Announced 20 July 2026 · Hong Kong AI International Film Festival
A rainforest does not grow by decree — it grows because every organism, from canopy to understory, both gives and receives. The Amazonia Program brings that logic to the AI film industry: one ecosystem in which platforms, capital, technology, production, academia and cities each find a niche, and the whole becomes more abundant than any single participant could be alone.
AI cinema is entering its infrastructure phase. The first edition of HKAIIFF established the pieces — an A-Class festival, the 51% participation standard, the Index.Film asset registry, the Hong Kong AI Film Market, the AI Film Academy and a fourteen-city hackathon network. What the industry needs next is not another isolated platform but connective tissue: agreed interfaces through which rights can move, works can be financed and distributed, talent can be trained, and cities can host.
The Amazonia Program is that connective tissue. Rather than bilateral one-off deals, partners join a standing ecosystem: their catalogues and services plug into the festival's index, market, academy and city network through defined cooperation tracks. The rainforest metaphor is precise — value in the program circulates in loops, not lines. A financing institution gains deal-flow visibility through the market; the market gains credibility through indexed, disclosed works; indexed works gain distribution through platform partners; distribution creates the audiences that make the next cycle of financing rational.
The program was announced on 20 July 2026 during the first festival week, alongside the launch of the AI Film Market's official operation. It is administered by the HKAIIFF Association from Hong Kong and operates year-round — partnership is not tied to the festival calendar.
Who the program is open to
Bring rights catalogues into the Index.Film registry; gain machine-readable provenance and a permissioned request layer for licensing enquiries.
Source verified AI-native works from the laureate record and market catalogue; carry them to streaming, theatrical and new-media audiences.
Access disclosed, indexed projects with documented AI participation; the market's packaging track provides structured visibility of production slates.
Put tools in creators' hands through the hackathon city network and academy programmes; workflow assets can themselves be indexed under the IXF Standard.
Co-develop AI-native slates, access market matchmaking and bring finished works into festival selection through the year-round submission channel.
Join academy masterclasses, labs and accreditation; host hackathon stations on campus and connect research to a live production ecosystem.
Host city stations of the Global AI Film City Network — screenings, hackathons and creator exchange that put a city on the AI film map.
Four cooperation directions
Index integration
Connect catalogues, works and workflow assets to the Index.Film registry under the IXF Standard — public records, AI-readable endpoints and a permissioned request layer for rights enquiries.
HKAIIFF Index →Market collaboration
Work within the Hong Kong AI Film Market — financing, packaging, distribution and partnership interfaces for AI-native IP, in official operation since 20 July 2026.
AI Film Market →City-station hosting
Host a station of the Global AI Film City Network, built on the fourteen hackathon cities — 72-hour on-site creation, screenings and creator exchange, run with local partners as Authorized Centers.
City network →Talent development
Build programmes with the Hong Kong AI Film Academy — masterclasses, labs, mentorship and accreditation that turn AI-curious filmmakers into AI-native ones.
Ecosystem →Where Amazonia sits in the ecosystem
HKAIIFF operates a 4+1 ecosystem: the festival competition, the AI Film Market, the AI Film Academy, the Global Submission Center, plus the AIF.BOT economic coordination layer. The Amazonia Program is the partnership gateway across all of them — one application, routed to the tracks that fit. It was announced in the same festival week as the Index.Film launch and the market's official operation, and the three are designed to interlock: the index gives works verifiable identity, the market gives them commercial interfaces, and Amazonia gives institutions a standing way in.
How to apply
Applications are open year-round to the seven participant types above. Write to the partnership office with your organisation profile and the cooperation direction you have in mind; the office routes each application to the relevant track (index, market, city network or academy) and responds with next steps.
Film submissions follow the separate year-round channel at hkaiiff.io — the Amazonia Program is for institutional partnership, not individual film entry.
FAQ
What is the HKAIIFF Amazonia Program?
The festival's partnership program, announced 20 July 2026 — an ecosystem as symbiotic as the Amazon rainforest, open to copyright platforms, distributors, financing institutions, AI technology companies, production companies, academic institutions and city organisations, covering index integration, market collaboration, city-station hosting and talent development.
Why is it called “Amazonia”?
The name refers to the Amazon rainforest — the densest symbiotic ecosystem on Earth, where every layer sustains the others. The program aims for the same structure in AI film: platforms, capital, technology, production, academia and cities interlocking so the whole industry grows richer than any single player.
Is the program tied to the festival dates?
No. The Amazonia Program operates year-round under the HKAIIFF Association. Partnerships formed between editions plug into the ongoing operations — index, market, academy and city network — and surface at the next festival edition.
How do we start?
Send your organisation profile and intended cooperation direction to partnership@hkaiiff.org. The partnership office reviews applications on a rolling basis and routes each to the matching track.
